Through the eyes of Merry (メリーの目)
Playback Part 1 - "Bluesy Night"

This happened in January two years ago...
Out of nothing he called me saying: “I’m looking for a singer for a band”.
Even if he was an acquaintance I had known before, I have to say that I was – honestly – perplexed.
I still was in my own band back then; we had already decided to split up, but we were still together.
What was I supposed to say? I reflected for a moment, then he said “Let’s just try and rehearse”, and I was already defeated then and answered: “Ah, okay”.
A few weeks later, my band disbanded.
But it wasn’t before one more month later that I tried to call him up after such a long time.
That was when I heard the unbelievable…
“I’ve returned to my parent’s home, I don’t wanna be in bands anymore”.
What a selfish guy, I thought and cut the line abruptly. I still remember vividly.
Afterwards, I didn’t contact him anymore.
Two months after my old band split up, I remembered that I intended to form a new band. So I started looking for members, but I couldn’t find the people I envisioned. When I already wanted to give up, this one guitarist came back into my mind. That selfish guy, Yuu.
I didn’t know if it was right to ask him again, but I almost unconsciously called him up.
“It’s been a long time. How are you?”, I started and continued with “Don’t you wanna have a band with me?” to break the ice.
After a short silence he said “No, I still don’t want to, I’m looking for a job” (what a sad answer!).
So, after his rejection, I got egged on even more and started to attack him with telephone calls.
Every time I told him how I imagined the band to be and continued to talk about the things I wanted to talk.
Unfortunately, during that time, he suddenly changed his telephone number, but, clever as I am, I searched for his new number and eventually found it. I was very proud.
But his answer was still the same.
So I decided to stop calling him and see what happens.
Two days later, I suddenly got a call from Yuu - “I wanna make a band. Together with you.”
That made me incredibly happy, but I tried to conceal it and just half-heartedly said “Aha…”.
Thinking back now, I’d say that – even if we hadn’t thought of the band name yet – that day was the start, the start of Merry.
