Playback Part 3 - "Difficult Improvement"

After my old band had disbanded, I slowed down a bit and spent day after day at ease.
Because there weren’t too many drummers, I had received several invitations to play in new bands, but even if I was grateful for this, I couldn’t decide what to do and declined every offer. However, since I wasn’t part of the band-scene anymore, I started to become very lazy and sluggish, even if I had tried several activities. So I thought it would be okay to support an old friend’s band in recording some stuff and also at gigs. Again I found that being in bands is really cool. But not even this was a motivation to me. I wondered if this “being only halfway in bands” was good though. All I really wanted was to have a band with people who were seriously motivated…
Right then, I got a call from the vocalist of my old band, Gara, whom I hadn’t heard of for a long time. I had never thought about making a new band together with someone of the band I used to be in. But during our short talk, Gara asked me if I wanted to be in a band with him and Yuu, and told me they would go to Nagoya to see the Last Live of the band whose bassist they wanted to join the band too. I so desperately wanted to play drums again...
A few days later, I got another phone call from Gara.
“I’m not really interested to have you in the band, but Yuu is.”
Despite the fact that his words made me a little sad, I was also glad. I knew Yuu had an awesome stage presence and that he wrote really good music. About the bassist from Nagoya I knew that he was good, that he used to stick the hem of his trousers into his boots and that he had a valuable personality. After Gara had told me in an almost feverish way what kind of band he envisioned, he hung up the phone.
Because the drummer is always behind the vocalist on stage, I thought that I wouldn’t be able to work with him unless I truly respected him. But I knew that he was a great vocalist for sure.
“That might get interesting”, I thought and picked up the receiver to call Gara back and give him an answer...
