Through the eyes of Merry (メリーの目)
Playback Part 7 - "Parabolic Antenna"

Well, last time (in part 2) I wrote about how I moved to Tokyo. This time I will tell you about how I met Tetsu and Ken, I think.
When it comes to Tetsu, it was Gara who made various advances [to get him to Tokyo], because I was still in my local area then. The day after he moved to Tokyo, the four of us met.
Since I had never met Tetsu before and the only keyword I had about him was “large”, my imagination ran wild.
The moment Tetsu arrived at our meeting place, my first impression was: “He’s long in any case...”. And he had beautifully swaying long hair and somehow radiated an aura of great reliance.
The first meeting in a bar showed a climax we would have never thought of, we decided in energetic thirty seconds that Tetsu would become a member of Merry. Even now I think that the aura I felt at once was genuine.
Having advanced pretty smoothly until here, finding the second guitarist proved not to be so easy. Everyday we went to see lives in order to look for a guitar player, we asked acquaintances to help us in our search, anyone, but the person who made us say “This guy is it!” couldn’t be found.
Guitar play, sense for composition, the music we would like to play...if the guys we interviewed weren’t that good at these, it didn’t really matter, what was really important to us was a certain “affinity”. Making part of the same band, this is an absolute necessity. However, how could we find out if someone matched us? All we could do was use our eyes and our ears. And we needed a lot of time.
I don’t remember well now, but we looked at quite a few guitarist; none of them were outstanding though. But then we came to meet Ken. As I was in my former band, our bands were kinda rivals (only a little bit), but backstage, however, we never talked. Probably that’s why I got the impression he’s like a closed up adult. [Note: I’m not quite sure if I got the past two sentences right. But to me it makes sense that way. ^^;]
However, my impression was totally wrong.
We had an extremely lively talk during which I was trying to find out what kind of person he was. What about his guitar playing, the tunes he played, the music he wanted to create. What were the differences between us?
Our conversation became bouncy and more and more excited! That was it! That was what I had been looking for!
The decision was made instantly! We fitted to perfectly, Merry had been completed with 5 stars.
Then we went on to face our fateful first live...
